EU-Single Market
Our support in the Single Market
The European single market is the most important achievement of the European integration process and the nucleus of the EU. It was launched on January 1, 1993, and ensures the free movement of goods, services, people, and capital within the EU. The single market includes the 27 EU member states as well as Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein (through the European Economic Area). Switzerland has partial access to the internal market (via bilateral agreements).
The internal market is one of the EU's greatest achievements, as it facilitates trade between companies, stimulates growth, promotes innovation and, at the same time, simplifies the lives of citizens. More information can be found in an infographic from the European Council HERE.
We, at the Enterprise Europe Network Bavaria, can help you benefit from the opportunities offered by the EU internal market.

Single Market – public procurement
Find new business partners in Europe via public procurement with the ABZ
The Auftragsberatungszentrum Bayern e.V. (ABZ) is the first point of contact for public procurement in Bavaria. Our team of experts advises you on EU legislation and directives that you need to comply with if you want to operate internationally.
Our services:
- Public contracts
- International business
- EU regulations
The ABZ provides information and advice to companies and public contracting authorities on all aspects of German and European public procurement in the supply and services sector. Small and medium enterprises are supported in exploring the public market at regional, national and international level and in participating in tenders. Public contracting authorities find help in issuing tenders in accordance with public procurement law and finding suitable bidders.
When participating in tenders abroad, companies repeatedly encounter obstacles in the tendering process. For example, certain proofs of suitability are not recognised, or country-specific proofs unknown to the company are required. The ABZ supports companies in this regard by providing individual advice or further information. In addition, the ABZ is closely networked with its Bavarian partners in the EEN. For example, questions regarding the posting of workers in the context of a foreign procurement procedure are closely coordinated with the contact persons at the respective chamber.
For several years, ABZ has been conducting training courses for network partners in the EEN advisory network on international tendering topics. These training courses enable participants to pass on helpful tips to their customers on how to participate in tenders abroad.
